Assisted Opening Survival KnivesAn assisted opening knife uses an internal spring mechanism to fully open the blade once it has been partially opened by the user. Easy to use with just one hand, this may quickly become your favorite knife. When the knife is in the closed position, the blade is held in place by means of 1 or 2 torsion bars. As the user applies manual pressure to the thumb-stud to open the knife, a mechanism such as a torsion bar moves along a track in the liner and rotates the blade into the open position These assisted opening knives are not switchblades, which open with the push of a button, these assisted opening knives require the use of pressure at the flipper or thumb-stud to open. Once the blade has been opened about a quarter of the way the spring mechanism will open it the rest of the way. We stock assisted opening knives from Buck, Columbia Knives, Gerber, Kershaw, SOG and Smith and Wesson. As with any precision manufacture tool, for best results and long life always keep your knife clean and very lightly oiled. Titanium nitride:
